They do wrap it just over the edges of the doors and maybe 1-2cm into the door jams so you can't see the original color when everything is closed. I opted to not get the full door jams wrapped as I was told that bubbles are more prone to door jams.
I don't have enough experience with vinyl so I can't say about stone chips and bugs, but it's pretty durable.
