From what I have learned so far, the problem is limited to 650i Gran Coupe with x-drive and apparently they all have this "feature", which may be limited to M Sport Package cars. The torque converter is the primary source of the problem. I'm told that eliminating the problem could significantly shorten the life of the transmission. Currently trying to see if Dinan or BMW performance mods would have any affect - doubtful. I'm very fortunate that my dealer is most anxious to make me happy and keep me as a BMW owner (we've bought 4 from them in the last 5 years). They have a very slightly used 2016 M5 in the showroom that I think might make me very happy.
We should have a resolution within a week.
