Any car will have various adjustment options available, depending the settings, they either work better or not so well. As to why BMW doesn’t set it up “perfect” from the factory, well, who knows, but the experience has showed that they don’t. And almost no car manufacturer, for that matter, with a possible exception being limited production series super/hyper cars - or what do I know, never had a chance to compare “factory setting” Koenigsegg with a “non-factory setting” one...
But make no mistake, this is absolutely necessary if you want to get the best out of your car - any car!
