I bought my 12 plate 640d direct from Bmw where I bought my new 330d and yes I paid a little over the odds but it's well worth it in my opinion as if any little thing needed or big all I do is call them and they will sort it.
Mine is going in for service in a few weeks and I said I've got a little bubble on my roof strip and corrosion on my alloys and I am taking it to their body shop for them to photograph it to get permission to do it under warranty. So fingers crossed these items get sorted.
