Could recent trademarks filed by BMW point to hardcore performance models up and down the M lineup? According to Auto Guide, BMW has filed patents with the World Intellectual Property Organization for names M1 CS through the M8 CS, including the M4 CS model name.
The first CS models may be represented by the recently spotted
BMW M2 and
BMW M4 prototypes, which when they come to market, will be models focused even more on track use. Compared to the standard M models, the CS models will potentially receive a power increase (
perhaps maybe even a totally new engine in the case of the M2 CS), suspension tweaks and aerodynamic parts such as more aggressive front splitter and rear spoiler or wing.
Besides establishing the possibility for CS models, these trademarks also reveals a possible M8 model. Is BMW simply protecting the M8 name for possible future use or is there an actual M8 in the works. We shall see...
