Not someone who can comment on the driving of this one, I like you, had the E60 some years back, and never had a problem with the traction on it. I know the Merc have always had that mentioned in reviews, although i think it is mainly down to driving style, and being aware of the conditions it can and cannot handle, and down to your driving ability.
Clearly a lot of power, and I've got some friends with the M5 and never heard them mentioning it.
You may want to talk to dealers at the moment about this though, there is a healthy discount available from BMW until the end of June (No doubt a new offer will come on then, but equally they may end the major deal).
The current deal is what swung me to look at it
