Lowering your car on stiffer springs will certainly improve "handling" by lowering the center of gravity and reducing body motion - assuming everything is aligned properly. Most likely ride quality is sacrificed in this scenario.

However, spacing your wheels out changes your overall suspension geometry. There will be long term adverse effects on bushings and bearings, not to mention tire wear (if not aligned properly).

You also better be sure that the spacers are centered on the hub so as to not negatively affect wheel to axle concentricity and rotational balance.
