You could be right, but I think it's more like 40-50 years off than 20. After all, we still haven't figured out how to primarily power our societies with much other than fossil fuels. Consider that one could power all of New York for a whole year off the energy in a single bolt of lightening, yet, nobody's yet found a way to harness that energy. Hell, even nuclear energy isn't yet the dominant energy source, despite the fact that it offers far more advantages over fossil fuels. Given that, I just cannot see the auto industry moving as rapidly as your theorem suggest. But that doesn't make it a bad goal/dream.
