I don't have the tire/wheel insurance, but I've heard some people say that they do have it and have been able to swap to non-RFTs.
I believe the BMW and Continental kits are essentially the same in terms of how they work. I'm not sure if they're made by the same manufacturer. I got the Continental unit from Tire Rack as it is pretty highly rated while also being about $60 cheaper.
