I am just going to throw out there that perhaps you need at least a certain "minimum" level of back pressure form catted pipes to build the boost properly. Mine have 400 cell cats and I experience NONE of this-only more power form low to high end of the revs and a nice increase in exhaust note with ZERO rattles. Basically no negative effects. All very positive benefits.
