Aside from that, I have both the R and my 335i and I love the R. I bought it below MSRP before it even arrived at the dealer so unless you live in LA or something there are deals to be had. AWD, 0-60 in the mid 4's with DSG, easily tunable into the high 3's, 30 mpg on the highway, still offered in a manual if you want it, practicability of a hatch, and in my area they are pretty rare. A3's and S3's are as ubiquitous as 3 series used to be around here.
That said, I'd take an RS3 in a heartbeat.
