Nothing to do with cruise control.

It's like the single M button in the M3. M1 and M2 are two custom buttons the driver can pre-program to set the steering, suspension, and throttle response settings to comfort/efficient, Sport, or Sport+. You can also pre-program the traction control setting.

Push M1 or M2 and it will switch these settings to what you've preprogrammed, rather than having to change each of those settings at a time.
