640d Gran Coupe vs 640i Gran Coupe

Has anyone had the pleasure of driving both the petrol and diesel Gran Coupe and can give their honest opinion?

I bought the 640i on the basis that I would not be doing that many miles, maybe 3000 to 3500 per year, and mainly local city driving so went for petrol on other people's advice.

Lovely car but now wondering if I should have gone for the more common 640d after seeing around 17.5mpg with mainly local driving. A full tank gives me about 275 miles. Its bad yeah.

I heard 90% of the Gran Coupes made were diesel, I can see why as its much more efficient and plus this car is made for long distance driving, crossing continents as I read somewhere lol, so a diesel would suit it better.

I'm not a petrolhead or car expert, only really have experience with my first car which was a Ford Focus 1.6 petrol manual, special edition Ebony model mind you so don't have much basis to compare it to. So interested to hear from people who have driven big engine performance cars.
