So one thing I have gone to is baking my own sandwich bread. The low-sugar wheat bread I liked was getting like $5 a loaf so I figured Id give it a shot and Ive gotten pretty consistent. The only issue is instead of 50/50 Im doing ALL whole wheat flour, which doesnt want to make gluten so I have to do an autolyse for 2.5 hours before I can make the bread but for about $1.30 I have a quality, high protein, low sugar loaf that lasts the week in a bread bag.
